It took an argument with my spouse, a hard look at my calendar, and several days of cleaning my messy office for me to understand why I've been feeling so crowded and edgy. I made the common mistake of adding (and adding and adding) new commitments without figuring out what needed to stay the same and what I might need to clear away to make space for my current priorities.
It's important to me to keep giving what I can to causes I care about. At the same time, I'm making a renewed effort to balance my paid and unpaid work with mundane tasks like "call the plumber" and daily rituals like eating healthy meals at home. Plus, for an introvert, time alone is essential!
When I'm helping one of my clients figure out how work-life fit might need to shift -- I often draw a simple picture. I drew one for myself as a reminder of the activities I want to be sure get my time and attention right now. Does it resonate for you? Are you, too, re-balancing after a tough few weeks? I'd love to hear from you in the comments or via my contact form.
Thanks for reading. Warm best wishes for a week filled with what matters to you.
